An online event to reflect the spirit of the original 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Featuring music, performances and short speeches that speak to the specific issues of racial justice facing our nation, with an eye to fostering and championing positive change. This annual event has been held live in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza in downtown State College; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event will be held virtually. Sponsored by the MLK Plaza Committee and State College Borough. Hope to be with you there!
Now, 57 years, almost a lifetime after 1963, some things have changed, but many, too many, have not. Yet there is more energy for change among more diverse people than I remember in my 60+ years. Let us join together “to commit to pursuing a new agenda that prioritizes equity, justice, and opportunity for all.”
A 2020 Virtual March on Washington taking place in DC will be streamed here, updates here, schedule of events here.
