How am I not surprised that this is a thing… NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are now being used to propose in place of engagement rings!
Before we jump into the story, what are NFTs?
According to Forbes.com:
An NFT is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.
This guy on Reddit.com decided to purchase one of his own and use THAT to propose to his girlfriend. Not only was it not a typical engagement ring, it cost almost his whole life savings.
