Since humans ventured into space, astronauts had to figure out how to poop in space.

There have been technological advancements over the past 50 years, but the outcome is the same: you do-do into a bag or suction hole. The first devices made for pooping were just bags that got taped to astronauts’ butts.  Having gravity while you go #2 is a luxury for us non-astronauts.

As we make an effort to get back to the moon and to venture to Mars, innovation and testing is needed for the next evolution of the toilet. So, NASA just launched a pricey potty to be tested in space. The cost: $23 million. The porcelain thrown is made only for the finest tushies in the galaxy.
