The Fortnite train is still plowing along, making $1.8 Billion in 2019. Fortnite somehow still holds the crown as the highest grossing video game of 2019, even though the game is free to play. Furthermore, sales are down 25% since last year.
Mobile games (i.e. “Candy Crush,” “Pokémon Go” and Nexon’s “Dungeon Fighter Online”) and major franchise hits (i.e. “FIFA 19” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare“) also made a crap ton of money, but they still couldn’t beat Fortnite. Maybe the reason is that Fornite finds a way to keep things interesting by including elements from Disney movies; Thanos from Avengers and Millennium Falcon from Star Wars for example.
So when you hear about how the kids are still building, shooting and looting in Fortnite, know that there are no signs of stopping.
